Throughout my concentration, I depicted the divide between my two identities spiritually through constellations, and culturally through the food photography. With this piece, I merged the landscapes of both Hong Kong and Vancouver together. Vancouver is the place of my birth, and Hong Kong is where my heritage comes from. The act of merging them together helps me physically see the joining of two cultures which diffuses the tension between them. They are no longer in conflict, but in unity. On the top quarter of the painting, I painted the skyline of Vancouver illuminated by the warm, setting sun.

The use of many brushstrokes in the bottom half of the painting contrasts with the structured top creating a natural focal point. The effect allows for emphasis of the sea. The landscape is muted while the water starts to shift, bend, and flow into a circular motion. A common motif shown throughout my concentration is the dragon. However, this dragon is more implied than explicitly drawn in order to enhance the meaning of this painting that my Chinese heritage is subtle in the Vancouver landscape, but deeply rooted nevertheless.
