The inspiration for this project was actually the three canvas squares that were given to me. Their size and blocky nature reminded me of building pieces like Lego, and I decided to simply experiment and see where it took me. I poured brown, red, ochre, and a hint of blue into a pan. Then I dipped the small canvases into the pans which resulted into an organic and vein-like pattern. After the initial painting, I decided to explore the textures found within our body. The three canvases would serve as a building block of the metaphorical body- all stacked on top of one another. I studied the patterns of how blood flowed and incorporated the visual imagery into this structure. For the dripping effect of the yellow fluid, I combined yellow acrylic paint with mixing medium which made the consistency watery- much like the fluid that is found inside the human body.
