As for the last project of my Grade 12 Media class, I will be making an animation directed towards Grade 1s. This animation will be about the importance of having spatial awareness which is a lesson that is being taught in classrooms. Earlier in the year, the senior media class had an interview session with a class of Grade 1s where we asked all sorts of questions about their favorite TV shows, favorite genre, dislikes, and more. I interviewed Jovin, a boy who loves playing hockey and art.

Afterwards, we analyzed their answers. A common trend with most Grade 1s was that they enjoyed animated shows more so than live-action. For example, Jovin’s favorite show was Ninjago: Master of the Spinjitzu. Based on his response, I decided to make an animation.

So far, I’ve written the lyrics for the parody of “Colours of the Wind” from Pocahontas, finished the script, and drew the storyboard. I have a total of 9 basic scenes and I’m done 3 of them. Next week, I will meet up with my friend, Cassidy Fu, who agreed to help sing a song for the animation!
