This piece is definitely a conceptual project where I will be including into my concentration. It is titled, "A Square Meal," which is a phrase describing a meal that is satisfying, full, and well balanced. I wanted to challenge that ideal square meal concept, looking at the subject through the point of view of an Asian-Canadian. Especially in a country where it is multicultural, the foods we eat are varied. I took items that absolutely did not belong with each other and juxtaposed them in a crisp clean environment. This shock factor and double take effect was what led me to pick photography as my medium as the pictures would be much clearer and more easily "consumable."

For the first plate, I placed a hamburger into a traditional Chinese dim sum bamboo bucket. The unlikely combination is what makes it interesting. I picked a plain white background to make sure all attention is drawn to the highly detailed bun. In the second picture, I took non-traditional tea and poured it into a teapot. As a final picture in this photography series, I put various foods on the same plate. The portions of Western and Eastern food are roughly equal, which represents the cultural side of my identity coming together in unity.
